Mexico. Louis Gallois, chief executive of EADS, the European giant aerospace and defense, revealed that after the installation of the Eurocopter plant in Mexico, whose exact location will be announced in early 2011, will generate up to 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The objective of this center is to enhance the capacity and training of pilots and technicians in their area of influence, which includes Central America and the Caribbean, and northern South America as an integral part of the Group's global strategy Eurocopter to improve aviation security in the region.

He added that this will stimulate the market of parts suppliers in the aeronautical sector, since it will have a value of $170 million to $400 million dollars.

Gallois added that at this point all group's subsidiaries, which are Eurocopter, Airbus, Arianspace and Cassidi (telecommunications for security and defense), are active in Mexico, including Spotimage.

The executive recalled that in recent weeks the Department of National Defense announced the acquisition of 12 Cougar EC725 helicopters, which will be used to help transport troops and civilians, and also stressed that the aerospace market in Latin America still has some way to go, and that their total value stood at $20 billion dollars.
