To further develop the market for hybrid seeds of vegetables Nunhems, a subsidiary of Bayer CropScience, specializing in genetics and related services to the horticultural sector, opened a research station in Culiacan, Sinaloa.

Without giving investment amount, the major crops in the greenhouse there are tomatoes, jalapeno chile, peppers and cucumbers.

Varieties should excel in performance, quality and specific characteristics in terms of fruit production to be marketed in the coming years in various areas of Mexico.

The new station has the necessary infrastructure to develop varieties above an area of 17.45 hectares, which can be grown either in greenhouses or in open shade.

With this, you may face the megatrends in agriculture, such as population growth globally, increased food demand, climate change, water shortages and increased prices of agricultural inputs.
