Mexico Accesses The World' s Top Ten Tourism Worldwide

Mexico accesses the world's Top Ten Tourism Worldwide
Writer Real eStrategy 7 High impact October 18, 2010 Without a doubt, one of the great engines of the economy in Mexico has been and will be tourism. As part of our extensive experience, we have been linked to the tourism sector and its performance since a few years ago, both from the perspective of development and hotel operations and the financing side and beyond from the economic policy area. Our directors and associates are among the most important real estate associations in the field of tourism such as CNET and AMDETUR, allowing us to be updated, have a large network of business ties in this important segment, especially be engaged and active in the issues, opportunities and prospects of this industry critical to the housing sector and the economy.

On this occasion, let us address the issue of tourism in Mexico and how it compares with the global powers. Undoubtedly, as we remember 2009 was a year of all known as one of the worst worldwide to both Mexico and the industry in general. You only have to mention that from 2008 to 2009, the global tourism industry lost nearly 40 million tourists passing from 919 million tourists (MDT) at the end of 2008 to 880 in 2009 MDT. The countries that presented a decrease of more tourists France and Spain were significantly losing each 5 MDT, followed by U.S. with a loss of 3 MDT, but these 3 countries manage to remain as the first 3 places in world tourism leaders.

According to the World Tourism Organization, France is the country that receives more tourists per year, followed by USA, Spain, China and Italy. Mexico occupies and maintains the tenth position and calls us the attention that is the only Latin American country that is part of the world's Top Ten.

In recent times we have been hearing the goal of wanting to advance in the Top Ten and get to be in the 5 countries with the highest number of annual tourist visits. In our opinion, we still difficult for Mexico to access these sites at least in the short and medium term. Potential exists, but internally there are many issues we should still be able to handle and able to solve soon. For example among those immediately address critical problems without a doubt, the most important is national security. We should be able to ensure the integrity and security of tourists, without it and a clean permeate the country, we risk losing even more in this prestigious global Top. Infrastructure and competitiveness of the country are other important issues on the agenda to address national priorities we, besides not neglect what we have done is to care properly as macroeconomic conditions and public finances, which must continue to be enough attractive to capture the direct and indirect foreign investment into the country more significant.

The annexed table shows the Top Ten of attracting tourists worldwide comparing the figure for 2008 against 2009. We note that the first 6 countries have retained the same position but from the 7th place countries observe movements of one year against another, which opens a large window of opportunity to access in the medium term at No. 7, would mean that our real goal would be to attract a flow year 30 to 35 MDT, a figure which we consider quite affordable, as long as they join efforts between governments at all levels and Entrepreneurs from all branches of the tourism industry and everything is taken very seriously and settle in the national agendas of the resolution axis systems to solve are po order of importance and impact: I) Security; II) Competitiveness III) infrastructure; IV) Brand Promotion Mexico integral and each of the destinations; V) incentives to foreign investment.
